Depart 07:15 with a plan to get breakfast on the road. After some sixty miles through treeless desert we reach Yerington where we take $7 of diesel at Texaco. We ask where the best breakfast in town is to be had and are directed to Dini's Casino, Restaurant & Steak House. This has to be right as we order giant veggie omelletes, $22 for two including bottomless coffee and tip. We roll on to Hawthorne where we splurge $5 on a Pyrex mug.
Listening to Del Shannon Runaway, Gary Lewis & The Playboys This Diamond Ring and Dave Clark Five Over and Over (their only US No. 1) - the latter two being heavily influenced by session musicians (which is putting it politely).
We reach Tonopah early afternoon and after a quick 360 we get takeaway pizza at Cisco's at 720 North Main. Watching Pawn Stars and American Pickers on TV at the Jim Butler Inn.
